If you hate the search suggestions "feature" as much as I do then this one is for you.

To disable the Search suggestions in IE8...

1. Click the small arrow beside the search control
2. Click on Manage Search Providers
3. Select the search provider that you want to change.
4. In the bottom pane of the window, locate "Search Suggestions:"
5. Click on "Disable Suggestions"
6. Close the window.  You are all finished.

The procedure is the same to enable suggestions with the exception that you will click "Enable Suggestions".
