RAM issues in ME |
When installing RAM amounts greater than 512 Mb you may run into startup or operation problems. Of course the very first step is to ensure that your motherboard will support the larger RAM amounts. After you have verified that it does, the proper installation method is as follows:
- Before installing the RAM, open the system.ini file located in the Windows folder.
- Scroll down to the [vcache] section and insert the following linC:
MaxFileCache=512000
NotC: This means that all memory is still available to applications. It is simply limiting the amount used as virtual cache memory. - Shut down your system and install the new RAM. Use all the safeguards for protecting your system from static.
- Restart, and you should be working properly.
