| OS Updates |
If you upgrade the Microsoft Windows XPSP2 Operating
System, you can no longer run Internet Explorer 7. The workaround is to remove
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview, install operating system updates, and
then reinstall Internet Explorer. |
|
| RSS icon feed detection |
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 preview uses a link
in the html of a web page to generate feed auto-discovery. If a page does
not have the link element, IE7 does not detect the feed. See
the IE
Blog entry for details. |
|
| Application Compatibility Toolkit
(ACT) |
Version 4.0 of the ACT does not support Internet
Explorer 7 Beta Preview compatibility logging. ACT version 5.0 will support
IE7 logging. |
|
| Turbo Tax Online |
It is not possible to log on to the
TurboTax online web site from a system running Internet Explorer 7 Beta
2 Preview. This is a known issue with the User Agent String in IE7 Beta 2
Preview. Until a fix is available, you can spoof Internet Explorer 6 by running
my IE 7 Beta Tools and
you should be able to access the Turbo Tax pages. |
|
| Form Edit |
Text does not display on first entry or refresh
on edit when user edits a form or a wsywyig editor window. The workaround
is to press enter to cause the text to appear or refresh. |
|
| MSN Messenger Logs |
Attempts to view MSN Messenger Logs generate
an XSL error. To work around this issue, configure MSN Messenger to store
logs in a folder, without any spaces in the path to that folder. |
|
| Images in RSS Feeds |
When viewing certain RSS feeds, images may not
appear correctly or may move around on the page. Resize the window to get
the RSS feed page to layout correctly. This issue will be addressed in an
upcoming release of IE7. |
|
| FTP Authentication |
The user is not prompted for credentials when
visiting an authenticated FTP site in Internet Explorer. This is a known
issue, and the workaround is to enter the credentials into the FTP URL directly;
for example, ftp://username:password@example.com |
|
| McAfee Products |
McAfee products may display a blank window when
Internet Explorer Beta 2 Preview is installed. This is a known issue and
we’re working on a fix for the next public release. |
Fixed in version 7.0.5346.5 |
| Timeouts for Page Loads |
Timeouts were changed in IE7 B2P and a page which
takes more than 30 seconds to render will result in a “page cannot be displayed”
error page. This is a known issue and we will address it in the next public
release. |
|
| Beta Security Issue |
Beta Security Issue known and fixed in next public
release--A security issue was reported to crash IE 7 Beta 2 Preview and be
exploitable to execute arbitrary code on the user’s computer. The bug was
evaluated and considered not exploitable, by default, and is known and fixed
in the next public release of Internet Explorer 7. For more information,
see the
IE Blog Entry. |
Fixed in version 7.0.5346.5 |
| Freedom Scientific JAWS |
When using Freedom Scientifics JAWS® for Windows
screen reader with Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, you might encounter the following
issues with shortcut keys. Please see the Accessibility section for important
information about installing JAWS.
- JAWS 7 does not display the contents of individual frames when a page
contains a frame set. To work around this problem, copy psapi.dll from
the \WINDOWS\system32 directory to the directory where JAWS is installed.
- JAWS 60 reads incorrect information for Select Control with Say Line
and Say Control Hot Keys, because of the new Internet Explorer 7 Select
Control. There is no current workaround for this problem, but Freedom
Scientific is working on support for the new Select Control.
- CTRL+F opens the Internet Explorer Find dialog box rather than the
JAWS Find dialog box. To work around this, use INSERT+CRTL+F.
- INSERT+A does not move the JAWS cursor to the Address bar. To work
around this, use ALT+D to set focus on the Address bar
|
|
| Sharepoint |
Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) cannot
import spreadsheets when Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview is running. |
|
| MSAA |
During setup, a checkbox with the MSAA name of
"I" is displayed immediately after Windows Genuine Advantage validation has
completed. This checkbox is checked by default and reads as follows: "Install
the latest updates for Internet Explorer, and download and run the Microsoft
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (recommended). Installing the latest
updates and the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool will help
Internet Explorer install successfully by removing existing malicious software
and protecting your computer against security threats. |
|
| Microsoft Money |
Installation of Microsoft Money 2005 or 2006
SBE on Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview may require a system reboot. An
error appears on login when the system is rebooted. If Microsoft Money is
installed before Internet Explorer 7, no reboot is needed. |
|
| Google Toolbar |
If you are using the Google toolbar you may find
that the "Open in new tab" option is missing. Reset the Google Toolbar
Options to "Default" as a workaround. The following is from the Google
Toolbar help site,
|
Is the Toolbar compatible with Internet Explorer
7 beta? |
We're aware that the Google Toolbar for Internet
Explorer is not fully compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer
7 beta at this time. Please be assured that we're actively investigating
specific issues and working to resolve them.
We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the Toolbar |

|
| Compiled Help (*.chm) files |
Bookmark links in *.CHM files return a "Page
not found" error. |
Fixed in version
7.0.5335.5 |
| Open/Save dialog disappears |
(Applies to build 5335)
If you have several tab open (3 or 4) and you attempt to download a file
from one if the early tabs (1st or 2nd) then the IE7 Beta will jump one tab
to the right and hide the Open/Save dialog. It will still be available
if you look on your toolbar for anything that says 0% complete. This
is new and I have just reported it. I'm hoping for a response from
MS that I will be able to post here. |
|
| IE7 steals window focus |
If you enter a URL into IE7 and then minimize
it to continue with another job, When IE7 has the page loaded it will popup
over whatever window you are currently working in. |
Fixed in Beta final release |
